Many true Falcon Fanatics will have been following the new FG X performance on the racetrack in this year’s V8 Supercar series, but for those who haven’t, the news is big: For the first time in a number of years, the Ford camp has the competition scared.
First, there was the return of the legendary Marcos Ambrose. Then there was the 1-2 Pepsi Max win at the F1 showcase races and the recent domination at Symmons Plains in Tasmania. It’s clear and safe to say that the Falcon FG X is proving to be one of the fastest cars in Australia right now.
But should consumers be just as excited?
According to the leading car reviewers in Australia – the answer is yes!
The FG X has been on our roads for a few months now and the results are in. Some YouTubers have said, “It brings a classier new look, more equipment and lower prices.” Others have noted “it’s all muscled underneath,” and that the XR8 is “faster than ever before.”
All of this would appear to ring true according to what’s down on paper. The new Falcon FG X comes in six variants, including the range topping V8 (which is really actually a GT with FG X plating). The base model, the Falcon XT, is no small offering in the Australian family car market either. Drivers are equipped with Ford’s Sync 2 system, digital radio, front and rear parking sensor, reversing camera, iPod and USB integration, an 8” colour touch display and 16” alloy wheels.
From there it only gets better. The Falcon G6E upgrades to 18” rims, leather seat inserts, dual zone climate control, rain sensing wipers, daytime running lights, front fog lamps and sat nav. Then there’s the G6E Turbo, XR6 and XR6 Turbo for those after a little more oomph.
The FG X is still cutting its chops but as we see more and more of them begin to populate the road, it’s obvious that Australia loves them. Even if this will be the last Falcon produced (for now, at least), there’s great satisfaction in knowing that it is in fact a fantastic car. Both on the track and on the road, drivers are singing its praises and as it’s available in both saloon and ute, we predict there will be plenty more driving near you soon.
