10 Roads to Put on Your Bucket List

The beginning of a new year has us day dreaming of far away lands. Wouldn’t it be nice to jump in the car for a cruise along the South African coastline, or through the Cherry Blossoms of Mt. Fuji?

After much research, we’ve short-listed the top ten roads to put on your bucket list. Lucky for us Western Australian drivers, some of the best roads are right in our backyard. Better start packing…

The Atlantic Road, Norway

The Atlantic Road zigzags for 8 kilometres between Kristiansund and Molde in Norway. Along the way, there are ample views of the Atlantic Ocean, The Bremsnes Caves and the striking Storseisundet Bridge shown above.

Touge Roads of Mt. Fuji, Japan

Japan has a lot to offer, especially in the Cherry Blossom season. The Touge roads are a winding confection ideal for a spin in a vintage Mitsubishi.

Not too far from home lies The Great Ocean Road. Road trip enthusiasts flock from the world over to see these views, and it’s easy to see why.

Going-to-the-sun road, Montana

Going-to-the-sun road winds through Glacier National Park in Montana. In the warmer months it’s all greenery and snow-capped mountains, but come winter the snow piles high.

The Million Dollar Highway

The Million Dollar Highway is a nickname for a stretch of road on the US Route 550. The highway sweeps through the San Juan Mountains overflowing with natural scenery.

Chapman’s Peak Drive, South Africa

Chapman’s Peak Drive meanders along the Atlantic Coast on the southwestern tip of South Africa. Towering mountains to one side, and oceanic death drops to the other – a veritable photographers dream.

The Stelvio Pass in Italy is a snaking road if ever there was one. It is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and would be a lot of fun to drive or cycle down.

There are countless trails in the Himalayas of India that are ripe for exploring, most of which seem to snake up the mountain for days.

Mullewa to Murchison Road, WA Australia

Murchison is a sleepy little town in the Golden Outback, home to just 15 people. This gorgeous route is right on our doorstep so no excuses… We think a Western Australian weekend getaway is in order?
